Alive

My first painting of 2017 was completed today. I named it "Alive" since it was this spectacular cedar tree that I saw on a hike near Cultus Lake. Looking at this great giant, in the midst of a rain forest on the Pacific Northwest I felt alive. Painting this brought back each of these memories!

Camping! Some sites are magical and I felt this magic at site H2. All the creativity was re-energized at this special spot off the beach trail, with majestic cedars all around. 

This will be in the Artist Choice show at the O'Connor Art Gallery starting this week.

This is a chalk pastel that started while I was sitting at the Art Gallery. 14x 17 inches. 

First Day of Ballet

Thank you Ana for the amazing water colour pencils and paper. Here's my first attempt. It's really the little one's first class and she was more interested in the tap class...she peaked until the curtain was closed.

This is a 8.5x11piece on "fancy" water colour paper. 

Hick's Lake Bluejay

I had to try my new Golden Iridescent paint. It's definitely something different and I will try again. I know my iPhone photos are not the best, but here's the iridescent experiment. I wanted to feel the tree canopy overhead with the light shimmering through.

Acrylic, these cedars are thinner than coastal ones but they still danced in the breeZe. 16x20

Victoria's Beauty

My original memory of this wonderful spot is romance. It's a place where my good friend got married. I love painting places I've been, and places where I feel peace. This is that perfect happy place!

Dinosaurs and Dragons

The kids did the backgrounds after I had masked off a section. Once dry, I outlined the masked off section and made whimsical creatures. What fun!
