Making Cards

We had a great weekend! Our project since yesterday was making cards. She helped my stamping her hand over and over in many colours. Grandma lovingly helped.

These were signed on the back as hand painted by The kid and assembled by Yoda and Dobby- our 2 dogs.

Art time

Well, it's been a busy time around here. Full time work, battling the flu and colds on all fronts (I recently learned what it means to have a toddler with projectile vomit), and two little dogs (one who suffered a recent severe allergic reaction which involved an emergency vet visit)--all this means that I haven't had time to draw or paint.

However, we got crafty today. We made egg carton tulips and did some fingerpainting.

I finished the playroom in October just prior to my return to work after my maternity leave. It was fun and took me approximately 3 weeks to paint.

Willington Beach

My family is having a great winter adventure in our RV. This means there's time to paint. I just completed a chalk pastel of Willington Beach, Powell River, B.C. This is a gorgeous location and it overlooks Harwood Island, and if it wasn't so foggy Courtenay, my old hometown.

Acrylics and Roses

Acrylics watered down can look like watercolours. I tried this in class and it turned out better than expected. I didn't use any retarder for the paints. Just water. It was a bit challenging but worked out.

Practice piece

This is an acrylic with texture building up the rocks and trunk to make it more 3d. Pointillism technique was used for the sky. This is a copy of John Le Flock's teaching painting. I thought it'd be easy but with all the detail it was much harder and time consuming, but with John's help, I learned tonnes. I also made the painting brighter and more colourful than his. I just can't help myself! I love colour!!!
