I gave this to a wonderful colleague who retired last week. It looks so wonderful in a "manly" frame. Thank you Cornerstone Framing in Chilliwack.

Art on the Farm

Wow! It was a whirlwind to get ready for Art on the Farm. I had so much fun and Andy was able to help me so much. The hosts, Harold and his family, are superb and so inspiring. Their farm, Barking Dog Farm, is a great property in the Columbia Valley that straddles the Washington USA Border. We set up our table in the orchard where there were apple and plum trees, next to the over 100 year old farm house. It's very picturesque and super quaint. My make shift booth--it started raining so thank God Andy had a tarp in the RV.

Alexis worked on her art and chilled out to Dora during her break. If you can imagine, she actually napped for 3 hours at the Farm after painting. It was a dream come true for me, and I finished a painting while she napped. This never happens at home!!!!

The twins, Jacob and Alexis discovered bubbles!

And this was the bug wall... can you hear Alexis saying "what's that?" She repeated this over and over as she looked at all the bugs drawn by the visitors and participants. 

And lastly, our fur babies were with us too. They spent most of the day resting in the RV but had to come out for a bit too. There are so many dachshund lovers at the event! There were also two other standard wire-haired doxies that were just beautiful.

Red River Cart

Art on the Farm was a wonderful surprising success! We had so much fun out there and even camped out the night before. While the booths were open and when Alexis fell asleep under one of my display tables, I was able to finish this fun little painting. It's inspired from the Red River Cart used by the Prairie Metis--we saw a replica one when we RVed across the Prairies last year.

The piece is about 6x8 inches and is acrylic.

Gibraltarian Lighthouse

We camped at Art on the Farm. It is so beautiful there. I wish we could live in the Colimbia Valley too. And this is what I painted on the first night. It's a small acrylic (6x6).

Baby Story Time

Here's my baby at about 8 months old. She was attentively listening to Chilliwack Library's Baby Story Time while wearing a styling toque that was a gift from my officemate Lori. I believe the top was from Silvia or Ana too -- I'm sure one of them were trying to inspire her to be a ballerina. 

The piece is about 8.5 x 10 inches and is done in graphite.

Homeless Crow

I was inspired by my neighbourhood crows who were recently displaced after a grand old English Birch was chopped down a couple of months ago on my neighbours' property. I'm sure they hate us humans now and I swear the crows sit in our cedar and are staring where their home used to be. They are very vocal and caw their dismay at us. Painting is 2 - 20x16 canvasses in acrylic. I used quite a bit of retarder to get the sky blended.
